Like I told you, the Houston Dynamo have only been here 3 years now, but I've been a fan for all 3 years, this is starting on the 4th season.
In over 3 years I haven't missed a game in Houston, and I went to the two finals that we won (in Dallas, about 5 hours away, and in Washington DC, a long airplane ride away), and I've been to a lot of other Dynamo games in Dallas and in other parts of Texas.
That's cool that Dynamo-Dresden played those big teams in the 70's. We want the Houston Dynamo to play them too. Maybe we can play Dresden one day soon.
Your English is a lot better than my German (willkommen was the only thing I knew in German.)
The Houston Dynamo don't have a very long tradition. They moved to Houston from California in 2006, and the first two years they were here they won the championship of MLS. Last year we thought they were going to win also but in the playoffs a very bad team beat them 3-0, we didn't understand why. We still don't understand that.
We don't have our own stadium, we play at the University of Houston in a very old stadium. We are trying to make a new one near downtown that will be very nice, but smaller. Now our stadium holds 32,000 people, but we usually only have 18,000-20,000, but we have had 32,000 for some games. Our new stadium will hold about 22,000 which is ok. Tickets are about $20 for a game, more or less. It's very cheap compared to how much it costs to go to baseball, basketball and American football here.
The guys on our team are really good guys who work hard and are fun to talk to. After games and at other places sometimes we have chances to hang out with them.
This weekend we play in Washington DC, next week we play in Houston. We have tied once and lost once so far, hopefully we will be doing better. Usually we start off slow and get better.
One more thing, we were in a tournament with Mexican and Central American teams last year, in February we played Atlante in Cancun, Mexico, and a lot of us from Houston went there for the game. It was a lot of fun, and Cancun was very, very nice, but we lost the game (we tied them when we played here.)
Ok, that's all I can think of now. Has your season started? How is it going?
If you go to YouTube and search for "Houston Dynamo" or "El Batallón" (which is one of our supporters groups) you can find some good videos from games. I can't search them now because I'm at work (I'm a teacher) and YouTube is blocked here.
We've never used cards like in that one picture but both our big supporters groups have big flags that cover their sections, they also use flags, smoke bombs, the usual stuff. El Batallón is mostly people from Mexico and Latin America so they do a lot of stuff from there, they sing in Spanish (even though none of our players speak Spanish) and jump and do the "avalanche." The other group is called the Texian Army, they also sing a lot in Spanish even though they are mostly (but not completely) White guys. We think we have the best supporters groups in MLS, and some of the best fans.
I need to read some more about Dynamo-Dresden. Is your color orange or gold?
By the way, I hope you can read English.... I'm sure you can, you write it well. We've had German students here at my school before that speak better English than the kids in our school do....
Anybody bring frog legs for appetizer w/ a red bull to wash it down tomorrow night. Much as I like Hénry, we need to roast that guy and the Bulls!
Go Dynamoooooooooooooooooo!!!!
Great time last night at the All Star v Man U game. Excellent atmosphere and venue. Had a great time. Man U was classic and the All Stars (in the first half anyway) looked like it was an exhibition.
The Dynamo connection was very apparent as Ching…
Agreed that the midfield needs strengthening up and Cameron being out is huge right now. I have said this before. I think the Dynamo can't even get an exhibition game with a european team. We are destined to play Pachuca for the foreseeable future.…
Really the only thing we can talk about is defense. Defense keeps us from losing games. I do believe we can live with constant ties, but we can't afford anymore loses for the rest of the season.
