I would aree that MLS and the Dynamo need to resign Stuart. They can give him a big chunk of Rico's old salary(Rico was the highest paid player on the team) and give him a 2 year contract (rather than the standard 4). Stewie would benefit from developing more on field leadership skills, and consistent playing time ahead of the world cup. Its a gamble but I would bet that his stock will only go higher next summer durring the world cup.
After the 2010 season the Dynamo could certainly pursue selling him for a tidy transfer fee. It makes sense. The Dynamo pony up $200,000 or so in salary to reward Stuart and negotiate for a transfer fee aftter the WC or after the 2010 season. Holden gets more first team experience/playing time in preperation for the World cup and a nice big raise. Its a win win deal. Someone in the FO needs to sell it.
Kirk, that makes all the sense in the World. Use Rico's salary, sign for 2 yr contract, and then sell his rights next year (actually make money on the deal) instead of losing locally nutured talent for nothing. I know Stu needs to explore his options, but come on FO, this is a no brainer.
I bet this is easier said then done. Stu can leave now on a free transfer to more clubs that are willing to take a chance on him than leave in a year or two where he can get hurt or have less teams willing to buy him. Do you go to Aberdeen free or do you go to Turkey or Russia for a million. I'm sure it's a tough choice for him as well, he knows if he stays he gets good playing time, if he goes he could do well or not but see what it's like playing in sought after Europe. And if Rangers comes to call, thats tough to turn down.
I hope Stu stays like us all. I love to see his growth. Love to see him in a USA jersey too.
Just saw this on the WV Hooligan blog that Dynamo just traded to get the rights to Adrian Serioux.http://wvhooligan.com/Personally, I think this is a great move as it really shores up the Route 1 defense while Geoff Cameron finds his footing in the…
