People say El Franco Lee wants the stadium put together with the Astrodome and other stuff. Political candidates are debating the stadium, aperently. It is now after Summer, the last time frame I heard from Oliver that the issues "might" be settled, as in "Lawers putting the deal on paper". Commissioners not talking. Can somone give us some inside info on the current status and prediction of the stadium issue please?????????

Yeah, did you check out the link to CW 39 Jorge Vargas interview with Oliver Luck earlier this summer? I was soooo excited to finally get an update from the Froont Office & then............................nothing since.
Just got a glimpse of San Jose's proposed new stadium, Lew Wolff Earthquakes owner is making it happen along with the city of San Jose.
I know OUR DYNAMO front office have been WORKING HARD to strike a deal for a new stadium. But, some Houston City Officials & Politicians are sooooo short sighted & indifferent that they are holding Everything up in limbo......GOD I hate politicians!!!!
How sad is it that Philadelphia Union already has a stadium being built as we speak & they don't even play until next season nor even have any players on the roster yet for that matter.
Crap I'm not a big fan of the proposed downtown eastend location for the Dynamo Stadium/ sharing with TSU for a myriad of reasons. BUT, as of NOW beggars can't be choosey I'll take what we can get......as long as it gets done!!!
I'd have to admit that it's sad and ridiculous that we have yet to break ground and build a stadium even after winning championships in the first two years of the club's existence. Hopefully win a third and start up a dynasty - Houston Dyna-sty.
El Franco Lee needs to calm down with this and delink it all. His own advisers -- one of them mayoral candidate Gene Locke (this is not an endorsement, simply a statement of fact) -- told him that county participation in the TIRZ and stadium plan as designed is a good and right thing to do. Any attempt to link the Astrodome into this project would be a disaster, and inappropriate to boot. The fate of the Dome is a completely separate issue that involves the Rodeo, the Texans, etc..
The stadium needs to be built where it's planned and how it's planned. The time for major plan changes is over. Hopefully this will happen soon.
Do the fans need to make this a major issue again? Do we need to start showing up at county meetings "en mass?" Mass e-mails again to put this in front of these short sighted politicians looking for votes?

HA!! IF that's the case, there should be a mass call to gather as many Dynamo fans as possible at Luckys (or one of the lots around it) and march the 5 or 6 blocks down to their downtown offices. Be even cooler if a couple thousand Orange showed up. But if something like that at this stage is counterproductive then I guess I'll just have to settle for beer at Lucky's.

I would love to do this sometime. We had the rally back way back in the Spring on the site, that was cool. It would have to be at a time when lots of people would be free.... this weekend would have been great, since there's no Dynamo game.
Maybe before the next weekend game, we could all rally at the downtown site in our flag-draped and painted cars, horns honking and Dynamo music blaring, maybe a little tail gating, then parade to Robertson en masse. That would be cool.
Sounds like a damn good idea, Yimmy. I'd make the walk myself with a the average stadium attendance of Orange fans: 16,000 Orange fans. Walk down with Dynamo flags singing chants and what not.

Well let's hope everything is resolved before the next mayor is elected. God forbid that it would be Annise Parker! We need to make sure that doesn't happen!!!

I think it would also be a good idea to do that at the next home game. You know everyone there really wants our stadium. Don't forget there's also alot of people against it and if they don't know she's against a new stadium we wouldn't want to alert them by putting up those signs and then we'd be helping her get their votes just because of that!
Let's see. If we have the usual 15-18 thousand at the next regular home game and we have volunteers handing out 15,000 simple flyers stating "Support the New Stadium. It is Good for Houston and Annise Parker Doesn't."
Bound to be some Chronicle reporter taking pic or too, maybe the TV station as well. Might shake Annise up a little and raise the stadium awareness as well.
